Dharamshala, July 6, 2015: Bhartiya Janta Party’s veteran leader and present Lok Sabha member from Kangra-Chamba loksabha constituency, Shanta Kumar has urged Government to enhance MP Local Area d Development Fund instead of hike in salaries and perks of Parliamentarians.
He said, “After the country wide criticism on the subside on Parliament canteen now members will have to face wrath on salaries hike. Maximum members are from the medium and high class society of the country and adequate facilities have been provided to them by the Government.”
Taking to this Correspondent on phone Shanta Kumar said, “In present scenario the salaries provided to MPs are sufficient to meet their daily needs. Instead of salaries, it is significant that 125 crore people of this country had equal right on the exchequer of India.”
He said that MPs are the representative of a country where people in crores are down with hunger and poverty. Voters send them to Delhi with this expectations that they (MP) will vanish darkness of poverty from their lives. Shanta Kumar said that Chairman of the committee Yogi Aditya Nath is the respectable member of the parliament. He urged Yogi to review and justify the decision in view of Swani Vivekanand’s Daridrnarayan and Gandhi’s Antyodya Mantra and decide how far the decision is justified. Shanta Kumar said that Government can consider to extend some facilities to the MPs. He said, “MPLAD fund should be increased and before the start of monsoon session of the Parliament both the issues should be resolved by withdrawing subsidy of the Parliament canteen and stopping the discussions on salary-hike of parliamentarians.”
