Shimla, July 4, 2015: Any person who voluntarily donates the land for development purpose like hospitals, schools, roads, temples or community centres etc, his or her name will also be inscribed on the inauguration plaque and he will also be honoured publically, announced Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh while addressing a public meeting at Melthi (Katlah) in Rohru Tehsil of Shimla district, today.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the newly constructed Primary Health Centre at Melthi completed with outlay of Rs. 91 lakh. He also honoured Shri Bhagat Ram resident of Melthi who donated three bighas and seventeen biswas of land for construction of primary health center.
He said the PHC much delayed during BJP regime had finally come up and announced the road leading to PHC to be metalled besides making provision for residential accommodation for doctors.
The Chief Minister also announced community health centre at Shallan and directed HRTC authorities for bus service to Shallan.
While speaking at Shallan the Chief Minister said that the temples of the area should be renovated in traditional architecture as it was observed that some temples were being constructed and renovated without following any norms and change in its style of architecture, which does not suit the traditional Hill architecture.
He said that besides AIIMS being opened in Bilaspur, three medical colleges were being opened in the State with a provision of Rs 189 crores each at Nahan, Chamba and Hamirpur. Indian Institute of Management was coming up in Dhaula Kuan which would facilitate the students of the State to pursue their management studies towards a bright career.
He said that Himachal was a fast developing State as compared to other big States and was financially sound. He said that development was a continuous and ongoing process and it takes time to accomplish the objectives and works targeted. There was no end to demands though it takes time to fulfill the same and achieve the objectives. The State had seen much development and still much has to be done. He said that the State government had made provision for metalling of roads in the valley and the work would soon be completed on such roads.
“I don’t make false claims as far as development issues are concerned but I mean what I say” he said adding that he hoped to see all the villages connected with roads in near future.
He also announced a sum of Rs 20,000 for school children for their cultural presentation on the occasion.
Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Shri Rohit Thakur said that Shri Virbhadra was synonyms of development and for the very reason Himachal Pradesh was a fast developing State. He credited the development of the area to successive Congress government’s right from the times of first Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Parmar and Shri Thakur Ram Lal.
He said that Katlah valley was today interconnected by road. He advocated for completion of Ganganagar-Kupri-Kot-Mandharli road which was an alternate road and shorter link to Rohru and Jubbal besides a backbone of apple belt.
MLA Shri Mohan Lal Bragta welcomed the Chief Minister to his home segment and tabled local demands of the area.
Earlier, the Chief Minister performed the Bhoomi Pujan of Shulidhar-Shallan road to be constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) at a cost Rs 1.19 crore and that of up-gradation of Mandharli to Karchari via Shallan and Kupri-Melthi-Sheelghat road under NABARD to cost 5.55 crore.
