Dharamshala, June 30, 2015: Minister of Urban Development and Member of Legislative Assembly, Sudhir Sharma, has taken up the challenge to make Dharamshala, the first town in the state with all roads tarred/ concreted , undergrounding of the power supply lines and a 24*7 water supply to its residents in just three years of his tenor as the first time MLA of the area and as the Minister in Vir Bhadra Singh government. He has managed to bring hundreds of crores from center for this dream, and not only the work is on but also at the edge of completion in majority of the areas.
“This is the first town in state where concreting the roads has been done; where 24×7 water supply is coming and laying of underground pipelines is being done and many other things are in pipeline. I believe Dharamshala will become one of the most beautiful towns of North India, “said the minister Sudhir Sharma. Minister of Urban Development and Member of Legislative Assembly, Sudhir Sharma, has a rich legacy in Himachal politics. He is grandson of Late Krishan Dutt, a former Congress party member and Freedom Fighter; and son of Late Pt. Sant Ram, former President of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee and Cabinet Minister in Himachal Pradesh Government.
Sudhir further said, “We already have invited a Hong–Kong based company to look at the urban plan of Dharamshala area, and ensure that we won’t turn like Shimla and Manali where we don’t have any open spaces.” He informed that the work on two ropeways Kotwali Bazar to Mecleodganj and Chamunda to Himani Chamunda are staring any time bringing attraction to the tourists to touch home place of Dalai Lama and the snow Range respectively without being struck in the traffic chaos. Lots of parking areas are coming up in the city and the surrounding areas to give relief to the tourists. He said that survey is on to expand Gaggal airport of Dharamsala to give way for the jet liners in the coming years.
All this development works have also brought the money and work to the locale contractors and businessmen, but few of them are just defaming the locale ministers by not meeting up with the quality in their work and by harassing the public and also by favoring few (their close ones). To name one road which is being cemented near Judicial Complex, where the work is being done as a matter of pick and choose bases, when few areas are left out as compares to others (where concrete is being spread edge to edge) .Public property including buildings , water pipes and electricity supplies are being damaged , and none is compensating the same . The road (which is just half a km long) has been banned for vehicles(without any/ proper permission) since a month and a half, making a very difficult situation for sick and the sr. citizens and school going children. The drainage covers to enter the residences are not being repaired, giving extra financial burden to the residence of the area for none of their fault. Many of the sewerage man holes have permanently being covered, inviting headache to IPH in days to come.
Similar are the conditions in other areas of the city too.In such conditions the concerned departments must work in cooperation to give much needed relief to the citizens and streamline the working agencies. As none of the concerned official agreed to comment to it, the public demanded government to take step in to the matter.
