Jalandhar, June 30, 2015: The Indian Army selects officers for enrolment through existing ten Service Selection Boards located at Allahabad (Uttar Pardesh), Bhopal (Madhya Pardesh) and Bangalore (Karnataka) following a very elaborate and stringent but scientific process lasting five days.
Over the years, due to various factors the Indian Army has been facing acute shortage of officers and to mitigate this problem, Indian Army has decided to raise two more Service Section Boards at Ropar, Punjab on land which has been handed over to the Indian Army by the Punjab State Government. This would become the fourth Service Selection Centre for the Indian Army and would be called Selection Centre North (SCN) since this would be the only Selection Board located in Punjab and to the North of the Country.
In the interim till the infrastructure comes up at Ropar, Punjab, SCN will be raised at Kapurthala, Punjab on 01 Jul 2015 as its temporary location. Commissioning of SCN in the State of Punjab will greatly help in motivating young children from Northern India to join the Armd Forces and will provide job opportunities to many besides aiding growth and development of the area.
On the occasion of raising of SCN, Director General Recruiting Lt Gen RN Nair AVSM, SM would be unfurling the flag and releasing the motto of SCN on 01 Jul 15 at Kapurthala, Punjab in the presence of distinguished guests from the Punjab State Government, Civil Administration, officers from other military stations and Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks posted to SCN.
