Ferozepur, November 23, 2014: The Border Security Force (BSF) today seized consignment of Heroin worth Rs 25 crores from Border Out Post(BoP) Barreke along the Indo-Pakistan border in Ferozepur Sector. It is the second major consignment seized during the month of November by the BSF. Earlier 22 Kg heroin was recovered on 3rd November from BOP Ulloke.
R K Thapa, DIG BSF Ferozepur Sector said that the troops in Barreke area were on high alert following an intelligence input regarding threat of smuggling from that area. DIG said that during the wee hours, BSF troops deployed in BOP Barreke spotted some suspicious movement. “Our troops immediately challenged them but Pakistani smugglers managed to escape taking cover of foggy weather, darkness and vegetation” DIG said. Later during the search of the area, 5 packets of heroin were recovered.
DIG said that till date, 330.771 Kg Heroin had been recovered by the BSF during various operations along the Indo-Pakistan border in Punjab this year.
