Ludhiana, September 12, 2014: H S Phoolka, senior advocate, has written to Union Home Minister that 3 houses of then MPs were burnt by the mob. These MPs were Ram Bilas Paswan, who gave sheltered to a Sikh, Gurcharan Singh Tohra and Jagdev Singh Talwandi, both Akali MPs.
Phoolka demand that Bunglow no.12 Rajindera Prasad Road, the house of Ram Bilas Paswan at that time which was burnt by mob as Paswan gave shelter to a Sikh, should be made a Memorial. This house also signifies that though the ruling party and then government was killing the Sikhs but the Opposition leaders were trying their best to save the Sikhs and by doing that they were trying to save the ‘secular fabric’ of the country. Making a Memorial in this house would also signify the communal amity among the people of India, he added.
