Punjab deputes nodal officers to dispatch relief material to flood ravaged J & K

Chandigarh, September 12, 2014: Punjab Government has deputed the Deputy Commissioners of Amritsar, Ludhiana and Mohali as Nodal Officers to facilitate the dispatch of relief material to the flood ravaged Jammu and Kashmir.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the Punjab Government said that, tones of relief material from across the Punjab, has been pouring in since the news of devastated flood fury in J & K had hit the headlines. He said the Nodal officer would ensure the hassle free transit of this relief material destination in J & K. He said that Davinder Singh, Senior Assistant at Civil Control Room, Punjab Civil Secretariat-1 has been made the Nodal Officer at the state level.
The spokesperson said that deputy commissioner of all other districts have also been asked to depute nodal officer of their district at their end to act swiftly for collecting and dispatching the relief material to the flood wrecked state. He said that on December 12one lakh meal packets collected from different parts of the state have been dispatched to J& K. He said that Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar, Ludhiana and Jalandar has also been arranging blankets besides food packets. He said that Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar would oversee the relief activities of Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Jalandar, Kapurthala, Faridkot, Gurdaspur, Nawan Shahr and Hoshiarpur whereas DC Ludhiana would look after the districts of Ludhiana, Patiala, Sangrur and DC Mohali would supervise flood relief activities of district Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib and Ropar.
