Dharamsala, March 1, 2014: Himachal Congress is gearing up for the AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi’s election rally to be organised in Police Stadium Dharamshala.
The Rahul’s rally is being held after the BJP’s prime Ministerial candidate Narender Modi’s rally of Sujanpur (Hamirpur) last month. Therefore, turn of people at the former rally will surely be compared with the latter.
On the other hand on Friday night, the HPCC president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu presided over the meeting of Kangra District Congress Committee (DCC) regarding arrangements for AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi's Dharamsala rally on March 8. He said Gandhi will also hold a meeting with party office bearers from the block to state level on the same day. “The meeting aims to know the expectations of party workers,” said Sukhu, adding that Gandhi would also meet ex- servicemen. Later, in the evening, Sukhu along with transport minister GS Bali, and urban development minister Sudhir Sharma also inspected the venue of the rally.
On candidates for the four Lok Sabha seats in the state, Sukhu said the party was likely to finalise names before Rahul Gandhi's rally. “The situation will be clear in two or three days. We will finalise the candidates within a week, most probably before Gandhi's rally,” said Sukhu
Meanwhile, Sources say that the Union Minister Chandresh will get the Congress ticket for Kangra and sitting MP Pratibha Singh (CM Virbhadra’s wife) for Mandi constituency. The Congress' election committee is likely to meet in Delhi on March 3 to finalise candidates from Himachal. Party sources say that for Hamirpur constituency, industry minister Mukesh Agnihotri is said to be the frontrunner, whereas state unit is backing, Rajinder Rana for Hamirpur. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, has also refused to spare Agnihotri from the state cabinet, is backing the candidature of Sujanpur MLA Rajinder Singh Rana. For Shimla, the Virbhadra camp is supporting Rohru legislator Mohan Lal Brakta, while the other contender, Vinod Sultanpuri, is using his clout in Delhi to get the ticket.
BJP has already cleared candidature of Former NDA Minister Shanta Kumar for Kangra, BJP Youth Chief-cum-Cricket maestro Anurag Thakur for Hamirpur and Virendra Kashyap for Shimla seats.
APP has already fielded BJP rebel Dr. Rajan Shushant for Kangra seat. Rajan (the sitting BJP MP) was the one who raised finger against his own party’s the then CM Dhumal against corruption.//dharamsala news update, dharamsala information, dharamsala news, himachal news online, himachal news kangra, himachal news in english, himachal news today, himachal news, india news, world news,
