Haryana State Transport bags Road Safety Award

Haryana Transport Minister Aftab Ahmad receiving Road Safety Award from Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Oscar Fernandes in New Delhi on Thursday. The award has given to Haryana State Transport for lowest accident record in the year 2012-13.

 

New Delhi/Jalandhar, January 17, 2014: Haryana State Transport has bagged Road Safety Award for lowest accident record in the year 2012-13. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Oscar Fernandes on Thursday presented the award to Haryana Transport Minister Aftab Ahmad, which consists of a trophy and cheque for Rs.1.5 lakh. Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary of Haryana Transport Department R.R. Jowel was also present on this occasion.

Haryana State Transport has been given this award in group III category, in which State Transport Undertakings having fleet of buses between 1,001 to 4,000 are included.

On this occasion, Aftab Ahmed urged Fernandes to bring uniformity in the criteria for trailers in different States, so that there is no problem in getting clearances.

Later, talking to media persons Ahmed expressed happiness over Haryana State Transport getting the award. He congratulated the officers, employees and bus drivers for doing good work and expressed hope that in future also they will continue to provide safe transport service to the people.

Ahmad said that number of buses will be increased in the fleet of Haryana State Transport.
