Chandigarh, January 3, 2014: A team of 29 elderly persons including Sarpanches ,Panches and farmers from Rajouri of Jammu district led by Major Santosh Babu today called on Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shivraj V. Patil under Operation Sadbhavana conducted by Indian Army.
While interacting with them, Patil appreciated the role of Indian Army for conducting such Sadbhavana tours which would not only provide them opportunity to visit the various places of our country but will also inculcate a sense of national pride by witnessing vast cultural and religious diversity of India. He said we all were equal even if we belong to different regions and different religions. He said such tours would go long way in giving more exposure to the members of sadbhavana team regarding the rich, vivid and vibrant heritage of the northern states of the country. He said this initiative would also provide an excellent opportunity to the members to broaden their horizons, most of who have ventured out of their villages for the first time and have even had their maiden such journey on the tour.
Earlier giving brief description regarding the visit, team leader Major Santosh said that we have visited Golden Temple, Jallianawala Bag and Wagha boarder in district Amritsar and visited other places of historical and cultural importance. He said that we are now going to Palampur to see Palampur Agricultural University to educate farmers regarding latest technical Know- how in this field.
Prominent amongst others who were present in the meeting included M.P.
