Ferozepur, December 4, 2013: An important bridge constructed at Hazara village in Hussainiwala by Border Roads `Chetak’ was dedicated to Maj Kanwaljit Singh Sandhu, SC and Maj SPS Waraich, the heroes who fought valiantly to defend Hussainiwala during the Indo-Pak War on December 3-4, 2971. These missing heroes delayed the attack of enemy infantry brigade led by a squadron of enemy tanks. In the ensuing battle, the bridge over Hussainiwala Barrage was blown up and Ferozepur was saved.
The Hazara Singh Wala Bridge was inaugurated on Wednesday by Jasbir Kaur Sandhu and Rupinder Kaur Waraich, the wives of the heroes, in the presence of the leaders, veterans and brave residents of Hussainiwala villages. The bridge is the life line of ten villages and is their only land link with the country. The villagers thanked the Army and the government for constructing the Hazara Singh Wala Bridge. The Veer Naris expressed their gratitude to the Nation, Civil Administration and the Army for commemorating the brave acts of their husbands.
