Himachal Pradesh 3rd largest telephone consumer of country: GM BSNL

Dharamsala, August 21, 2013: In comparison to the population of the state Himachal Pradesh is the 3rd largest telephone consumer of the country.
Disclosing this General Manager, BSNL of Dharamsala JC Maneria said, “In Himachal 100 persons are using 104 connections (landline or mobile), only next to Delhi and Tamil Nadu.  There are 219 phones per 100 persons in Delhi and 108 per 100 in Tamil Nadu.”
Talking to this correspondent in Dharamsala on Wednessday Maneria said that in India the density of phone connection is 90 crore.
About Himachal, he said that Airtel is leading operator at the movement with 20 lakh connections followed by 16 lakh of BSNL. He said, “To become no-1, the BSNL has planned several steps; including setting up of 77 new BTS towers in Dharamsala area till March 2014.”
