Dharamsala, August 4, 2013: Dharamshala in Himachal had the highest rain fall on Saturday afternoon to night. It recorded 132 mm of rain in around 8 hours. The next nearest was Dharampur in Solan District with 31mm, Bangana Recorded 15, Shimla-10, Mandi-8, Solan-6, Bharmaur and Gaggal (Dharamsala Airport )-3 mm each.
The Meteorological Department of Himachal Pradesh said that the rainy season is heavy in the state due to the axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Ganganagar, Churu, Gwalior, Varanasi, Gaya, Bankura & thence southeastwards to east central Bay of Bengal. Monsoon was normal in the state during last 24 hours. Precipitation occurred at few places in Himachal Pradesh with very heavy rainfall in the district of Kangra during last 24 hours.
A cyclonic circulation extending upto 2.1 Kms above sea level lies over southeast Rajasthan and neighbourhood can bring more rain to the area.
Department said, “Heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places over the state on 5th and 6th August 2013.”
