Pinjore (Haryana)/Jalandhar, July 6, 2013: The 22nd Mango Mela organised by Haryana Tourism, jointly with the Horticulture Department, Haryana, kicked off on a colourful note on Saturday at Pinjore Gardens.
Paramvir Singh, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Fisheries, Mines and Geology Minister, Haryana, inaugurated the Mela. Also present on the occasion were the senior officials of Haryana Tourism and Horticulture Department.
The two-day Mango Mela offers an ideal platform to the mango growers to sell their mangoes and mango products. The main objective of the Mela is also to encourage mango growers to adopt the latest practices to increase the mango production and quality so that they may get maximum return of their produce by tapping the domestic as well as international market. It also provides a great opportunity to the artisans and Self Help Groups to display and sell their hand looms and handicrafts products.
The Pinjore Gardens wore a festive look with colorfully draped poles and flower decorations adorning the venue. A number of interesting activities have been lined up for both the days of the Mela.
