Jalandhar, June 1, 2013: The 66th Raising Day of the Army Education Corps was celebrated under the aegis of Vajra Corps, here, on Saturday with befitting zeal.
The Army Education Corps Day celebration was attended by retired and serving Army personnel of Jalandhar Garrison.
Lt Gen AK Bakshi, General Officer Commanding of Vajra Corps was the chief Guest on the occasion.
The Army Education Corps which was re-organised on June 1, 1947 at Pachmarhi has moved forward in leap and bounds. In its illustrious history the Education Corps has carved a niche for itself in diverse spheres like betterment of human resources, Foreign/Regional Language Training, School Administration, Map Craft Training, Library Training, Enhancement of Educational Qualification of Indian Army soldiers and English Language Training for military personnel from friendly foreign countries and Personality Development Training. The Army Education corps recent endeavours like Personality Development Programs, Information and Technology Education, Emphasis on modern navigational skills and modified educational syllabi are focused towards improving the quality of human resources to meet the challenges of a transforming modern Army.
Gen Bikram Singh, Chief of Army Staff and Lt Gen Sanjeev Chhachra, Army Commander, Western Command conveyed their best wishes to the personnel of Army Education Corps on the occasion and were appreciative to the professional perfection and hard work of the ranks and file. Also being congratulated by General Officer Commanding VAJRA Corps Lt Gen AK Bakshi and Maj Gen Sunil Chandra the Additional Director Gen Army Education & Col Comdt AEC on the occasion.
