Ferozepur, August 31, 2015: The BSF has recovered four packets of contraband suspected be heroin from the area of responsibility at BOP Rattoke alongside the international border on 30/31st August. The value of the heroin recovered by the BSF is worth Rs.20 Crore in the international market.
R.K.Thapa, DIG, BSF, Ferozepur said that the BSF sentinels of 191 battalion deputed at BOP Rattoke were on high alert as the intelligence inputs were received regarding the threat of smuggling from the area of BOP Rattoke. The DIG said that the BSF had planned a special operation during the wee hours on 30th/31st August. The DIG said that during themidnight, the BSF troops observed some suspicious movement of Pakistani smugglers on the other side of the security fence. “Later they started throwing some packets over the fence. The BSF troops opened fire at them to stop their misadventure. However, they managed to ran away taking cover of the darkness”, said DIG.
DIG Thapa said more than 61 Kg heroin has been recovered from Ferozepur sector this year.
