Haryana Government sets up Help Desk toll free number for prompt redressal of grievances

Chandigarh, July 31, 2015: With a view to promptly redress grievances of the people related to Public Distribution System, Haryana Government has set up Help Desk toll free number 1800-180-2090 and 1967 in the Department of Food and Supplies and toll free State Consumer Helpline number 1800-180-2087 .

While giving this information here today, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said that the Government has started computerization of data of the beneficiaries and stakeholders   to deal with the challenge of minor thefts of food items under National Food Security Act, 2013. Therefore it has been decided to distribute essential commodities in a  transparent manner. It is expected that computerization   would soon be completed and   the data of eligible beneficiaries would be made available on Department’s website.

He said that in order to provide services to people in a time bound manner, simplified application forms have been introduced for services related to ration cards like issuance of new ration card, duplicate ration card, surrender certificate, inclusion or deletion of name of new member, change of address and change of Fair Price Shop. The new simplified application forms are available at regional offices and PR centres. As many as 9.15 lakh application forms related to these services were received at all regional offices till May 2015 which have been disposed off.

He said that a period of 22 days has been fixed for issuance of new ration card on the receipt of D-1 Form for APL category. Similarly, a period of 15 days has been fixed for services namely issuance of new ration card on the receipt of surrender certificate APL/BPL/AAY, issuance of second ration card APL/BPL/AAY, inclusion or deletion of family members, change of address in the same jurisdiction (for all categories) and FPS change under change of address. He said that a period of seven days has been fixed for issuance of surrender certificate (for all categories). He said that Inspector In-Charge or AFSO would be the Designated Officer whereas District Food and Supplies Controller and Deputy Commissioner would be the First and Second Grievance Redressal Authority respectively for these services. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
