New Delhi, July 6, 2015: Haryana Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal today said that with a view to resolve the issue of Sultej-Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal at the earliest possible, he has on one hand, urged the Union Water Resources Minister Ms Uma Bharti and on the other, he has impressed upon the concerned advocates to strongly plead the case.
The Chief Minister was addressing a largely attended Vikas Rally at Kanina in district Mahendragarh today. The rally was organized by the local MLA Ms Santosh Yadav.
The Chief Minister assured that the Southern Haryana would get its due share of water not only through SYL Canal, but also through Hansi-Butana Canal. The state government would also negotiate with the neighbouring Rajasthan Government to once again get water of Sahbi river for Southern Haryana. He said that the state government has sanctioned a Rs 143 crore special scheme for the area of Rewari-Mahendragarh. He also announced to sanction Rs 75 crore to lift water so as to ensure it reaches the tail-end. He also sanctioned Rs 18 crore to clean drains and canals of the area.
While referring to the demands put up by Ms Santosh Yadav and Union Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh, who is MP Gurgaon, the Chief Minister announced to construct a 50-bed hospital at Kanina. He sanctioned a Rs 2.5 crore primary health centre at Sehlanga and also announced to construct a women college. He said that a Sainik School would also be set up on the border of Rewari-Mahendragarh-Jhajjar. He approved construction of all roads mentioned in the charter of demands presented to him on the occasion and added that these would cost more Rs 50 crore. He said that the state government has sanctioned Rs 1,561 crore for construction of roads in the state.
He also approved to set up a park in Ateli and a veterinary hospital in the area. While referring to the demand for a housing board colony and a stadium, he said that if land is provided for the same, the government would undertake their construction. He said that apart from constructing Vyayam Shalas in rural areas, queue shelters would also be constructed at all bus stops.
The Chief Minister urged the people to realize their responsibility and pay their electricity bills on time. The government was keen to ensure uninterrupted supply of power round-the-clock. Therefore, cooperation of the people was must. He criticized the previous governments for misleading the people by inciting them that they should not pay their electricity bills. He said that his government would keep his promise and never make false promises to mislead the people. He said that the previous government projected Haryana as number one, but the truth was that Haryana ranked at number 11. The present state government would try to rank it higher. The state government has taken a number of effective steps to check corruption and these have yielded encouraging results.
Union Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh said that the present Central and State Governments have provided responsive administration. He thanked the Chief Minister for announcing to set up a centre of AIIMS in Southern Haryana.
Haryana Education Minister Mr Ram Bilas Sharma said that the present state government is living up to the expectations of the people. Minister of State for Cooperation Mr Bikram Yadav said that during the tenure of the previous government, this area had remained neglected, but the present government has accelerated the pace of development in this area. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
