Kapurthala, May 29, 2015: As a part of “RailYatri/Upbhokta Pakhwara” (Passenger and Customer facilitation Fortnight) from May 26 to June 9, RCF organised a press conference today , which was addressed by Sh.Alok Dave, General Manager of RCF.
Addressing to media persons, Sh.Dave said RCF is committed to achieve excellence in design, development, manufacture, installation and servicing of Railway coaches and other products so as to ensure continued customer satisfaction. He said that Railway Board has asked RCF to take up project for raising the speed potential of LHB coaches to 200 kmph by carrying out necessary modifications. Accordingly, RCF started working jointly with RDSO/Lucknow and has prepared specifications for the 200kmph coaches. The new high speed coaches will have Automatic sliding Doors, Axle mounted disc brake system with flexible sintered pads and EP assist system and Inter-coach gangway with flexible interior furnishing. The proposed rake composition will have 14 IInd AC chair car, 3 nos. Executive chair car and 3 nos Power car.RCF has already manufactured one Shatabdi rake consisting of 10 Chair cars + 2 Executive chair cars + 2 Power Cars and was turned out on 19.11.2014 to run between NDLS-AGC at 160 kmph. This rake was provided with automatic compartment doors & passenger information system.
He said that RCF has got an Export order from Bangladesh for manufacturing of 120 LHB coaches comprising of 19 Power Car, 17 First AC Chair Car, 17 Second AC Chair Car and 67 Non-AC coaches. 40 coaches each will be supplied in three years. This is the highest export order for Indian Railways,till date. Also, for Defence , RCF will manufacture 90 AC 3-Tier coaches which will be supplied in batch of thirty each in three years. This is again ,the highest order from Defence.
Sh. Dave also apprised the media of various passenger friendly facilities i.e provision for more Mobile/Laptop charging points, use of Braille Signage Notice Boards for convenience of Visually Impaired Passengers, Improved aesthetics etc. Special steps have been taken for Safety from Fire occurrences.
Later, the Media was taken for Workshop round where they were shown the manufacturing of various LHB and Conventional Coaches. / (Rajat Kumar, Jalandhar)
