New Delhi, May 29, 2015: Haryana Food and Supplies Minister Mr Ram Bilas Sharma today said that the choice of consumers is heavily affected by misleading aggravated advertisement. The need of the hour is to put an end to these unfair advertisements to prevent exploitation of the consumers, he added.
The Haryana Food and Supplies Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma was addressing the National Seminar organized to take stock of ground situation on the functioning of Consumer Fora across the country at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi today.
Union Finance Minister Mr Arun Jaitley and Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Mr Ram Vilas Paswan also participated in the seminar.
Mr Ram Bilas Sharma said that fast foods like pizza, burgar, spring rolls etc. have almost finished the utilization of kitchens in the houses. He said that State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission of Haryana has been set up in Panchkula under the chairmanship of Mr Justice Nawab Singh. He said that so far 45,666 consumer cases have been registered, out of which 44,786 consumer cases have been disposed by the commission which is 98.07 per cent of the total cases. Similarly, 2,37,283 cases have been registered at District consumer forums, out of which 2,24,582 cases have been disposed which is 94.64 per cent of the total cases. He said that State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission of Haryana is number one in terms of disposal of the cases.
He said that Haryana Food and Supplies Department has also set up State Consumer Help Centre with its toll free help line no. 1800 180 2087. In this centre, the complaints related to the consumers are redressed. So far, 7,941 complaints have been registered, out of which 6,646 have been redressed which is 84 per cent of the total complaints which is again highest in the country.
The Chairman of State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission of Haryana Mr Justice Nawab Singh and Director of Haryana Food and Supplies Department Mr C.R. Rana were also present in the seminar. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
