Chandigarh, May 26, 2015: Haryana has recorded an appreciable achievement in Family Welfare Programme during the Financial Year 2014-15 and the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) of the State has come down from 2.3 to 2.2, as per data of the Sample Registration System (SRS) 2013 got conducted by the Government of India.
This was disclosed by Mr S. Narayanan, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Haryana while speaking at a workshop on Standards and Quality Assurance in Family Planning organised by Department of Family and Health Welfare, Haryana and supported by USAID here today. The workshop aimed at orientation of the State officials and service providers on the various aspects of quality as well as schemes of the family planning programme including Family Planning Insurance Scheme.
He said that the achievement of Family Welfare Programme during the Financial Year 2014-15 is appreciable with achievement of Tubectomy 92.5 per cent, IUCD (Intra Uterine Contraceptive Device) including PPIUCD (Post Partum Intra Uterine Device) 141.2 per cent, PPIUCD insertion 138.3 per cent, CC(Condom Contraceptive) 93.4 per cent, OP(Oral Pills) Cycles 115.3 per cent”. He said that PPIUCD insertion achievement is 138.3 per cent which is probably second in India indicating that Family Welfare Programme has done a commendable job. Complication rate of sterilization in Haryana is 18 per cent which is sixth in India and hence needs to be reduced. Failure rate per lakh sterilization is 108.0 per cent which has to be reduced, he added.
The workshop was attended by Dr. S.K. Sikdar, Deputy Commissioner, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Dr. D P Lochan , Director General Health Services, Dr. Satish Aggarwal, Director Health Services-Family Planning, Haryana, Civil Surgeons, State Programme Officers, District Family Welfare Officers and District Programme Managers. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
