Chandigarh, May 21, 2015: The Haryana Government has given sanction for the prosecution of Suresh Chaudhary, Drug Control Officer, Fatehabad, under the Prevention of Corruption Act. He was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau (VB) on September 26, 2014, for demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 from Devki Nandan, a resident of Fatehabad, for releasing the unauthorized medicines seized from him.
Stating this here on Wednesday, a spokesman of the VB said that as sufficient evidence had been found against the accused for the commission of offence, decks had cleared for his criminal trial with the sanction accorded by the state government.
The VB has intensified action against corrupt activities in the Drug Control Department. A VB team recently arrested three persons—Nirepan Goyal, Sr. Drug Control Officer, Rohtak, Vikas Kumar, clerk, and Amit Nagpal, owner of Nagpal Medical Store, for taking a bribe of Rs.40,000 from Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Jhajjar, for issuing a license for chemists shop, and its renewal. A case has been registered against the three under Section 7 and 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at VB Police Station, Rohtak. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
