Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar being presented a turban by people at Maharana Pratap Jayanti Samaroh organized at Karnal on May 20.
Chandigarh, May 21, 2015: The Haryana Government has offered to make all arrangements to settle the people of nomadic tribes at one place in the state if they so desire. “We respect their feelings for Maharana Pratap whom they believe to be their descendant”, the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal Khattar, said while speaking at the Maharana Pratap Jayanti Samaroh, organized in Karnal, on Wednesday.
In the 21st century, the face of society has completely changed. In order to sustain the culture of nomadic tribes, the people of the tribes should settle down at one place, he said, making an appeal to the people of the ‘Kshatriya Samaj’ to help in convincing the nomadic tribes.
The Chief Minister promised to meet the demands made by the people of ‘Kshatriya Samaj’ in a phased manner. These include construction of Prithviraj Chauhan monument at Trawadi; setting up of Maharana Pratap chair at Kurukshetra University; a playground for Maharana Pratap School at Karnal; and opening of post-graduate courses in Government College for girls, Gharaunda.
Besides, Mr Manohar Lal also waived off the interest and fine imposed by the Haryana Urban Development Authority on the Maharana Pratap Bhawan in Sector 8 of Karnal, as the bhawan is meant for social activities.
He expressed his disappointment over the fact that even after 68 years of Independence, we have not been able to get the facilities we were supposed to get, because during all these years all governments whether in the state or at the Centre, worked in a selfish manner. But now that the governments have changed both at the Centre and in the state, and these are working with the feeling of ‘my country, my society and my culture,’ people can look forward to getting their due, he said. The Chief Minister paid floral tributes to Maharana Pratap.
The Chief Minister said that he got an opportunity to contest the Haryana Vidhan Sabha elections from Karnal about seven months ago in which the people of Karnal, including people of the ‘Kshatriya Samaj’, supported him and brought him victory with over 65,000 votes. “My government is committed to the development of every section of the society”, he added.
Those present on the occasion included the Minister of state for Food and Supplies, Mr Karandev Kamboj, M.L.As Harwinder Kalyan and Shyam Singh Rana, UP MLA Suresh Rana, and Raghubir Singh Sirohi of Akhil Bhartaiya Mahasabha. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
