Chandigarh, May 15, 2015: Haryana will be free from the menace of child labour as the State Crime Branch of the Police has launched a campaign from April 1, 2015 to make the state free from child labour in six months. As many as 256 children have so far been prevented from begging.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that in case the officials of the Crime Branch see any child begging on the roads, they send the child to his parents or guardians. Also, the child and the guardians are brought to the Child Welfare Council in every district where the guardians or the parents of the child are asked to submit in writing that they would not force the child to beg. Also, they are warned that in case the child is again found begging, legal action would be initiated against the parents or the guardians and they would be arrested. Such children would be sent to Bal Bhawan. He said that the officials of the Child Welfare Council and NGOs are helping for the success of the drive. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
