Chandigarh, May 11, 2015: Haryana has crossed the target of wheat procurement by procuring 65,08,486 lakhs metric tonnes of wheat so far during the current Rabi season. Moreover, the figure of this procurement has also exceeded the procurement of 62,90,874 metric tonnes of wheat procured up to the same day last year.
While giving this information today, Haryana Food and Supplies Minister, Ram Bilas Sharma said that wheat procurement is 2,17,612 metric tonnes higher as compared to the procurement made up to same day last year.
He said that out of the total arrival of 65,08,486 metric tonnes this year, 65,08,064 metric tonnes of crop has been procured by government procuring agencies on Minimum Support Price and remaining 422 metric tonnes was mopped up by the traders.
Giving details of the procurement, he said that over 19.39 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had been procured by the Food and Supplies Department, over 28.29 lakh metric tonnes by Hafed, over 6.67 lakh metric tonnes by Haryana Agro, more than 10.65 lakh metric tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 5,800 metric tonnes of wheat was purchased by Confed.
He said that so far district Sirsa was leading in wheat arrival where over 9.83 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had arrived in the mandis, followed by district Karnal with over 6.69 lakh metric tonnes of wheat. Similarly, district Fatehabad had recorded an arrival of over 6.37 lakh metric tonnes, district Jind had recorded an arrival of over 5.94 lakh metric tonnes, district Kaithal had recorded an arrival of over 5.89 lakh metric tonnes, district Hisar over 4.80 lakh metric tonnes, district Kurukshetra over 4.66 lakh metric tonnes, district Sonepat over 3.49 lakh metric tonnes, district Bhiwani over 2.61 lakh metric tonnes, district Panipat over 2.45 lakh metric tonnes, district Ambala over 2.23 lakh metric tonnes, district Yamunanagar over 2.29 lakh metric tonnes, district Rohtak over 1.90 lakh metric tonnes, district Palwal over 1.70 lakh metric tonnes, district Jhajjar over 1.21 lakh metric tonnes, district Faridabad over 77,848 metric tonnes, district Mewat 64,760 metric tonnes, district Gurgaon 47,170 metric tonnes, district Narnaul 40,309 metric tonnes, district Rewari 36,766 metric tonnes and district Panchkula 29,527 metric tonnes. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
