Chandigarh, May 6, 2015: In Haryana, the wheat procurement up to May 5, 2015 has reached 62,54,585 metric tonnes during current Rabi season as against the target of 65 lakh metric tonnes.
While giving this information today, Haryana Food and Supplies Minister, Ram Bilas Sharma said that wheat procurement is 2,13,100 metric tonnes higher as compared to the procurement made up to same day last year. During last season, 60,41,485 metric tonnes wheat was purchased up to May 5. He said that out of the total arrival of 62,54,585 metric tonnes this year, 62,54,410 metric tonnes of crop has been procured by government procuring agencies on Minimum Support Price and remaining 175 metric tonnes was mopped up by the traders.
Giving details of the procurement, he said that over 18.44 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had been procured by the Food and Supplies Department, over 27.19 lakh metric tonnes by Hafed, over 6.51 lakh metric tonnes by Haryana Agro, more than 10.33 lakh metric tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 5,800 metric tonnes of wheat was purchased by Confed.
He said that so far district Sirsa was leading in wheat arrival where over 9.22 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had arrived in the mandis, followed by district Karnal with over 6.55 lakh metric tonnes of wheat. Similarly, district Fatehabad had recorded an arrival of over 6.10 lakh metric tonnes, district Kaithal had recorded an arrival of over 5.82 lakh metric tonnes, district Jind had recorded an arrival of over 5.80 lakh metric tonnes, district Hisar over 4.58 lakh metric tonnes, district Kurukshetra over 4.49 lakh metric tonnes, district Sonepat over 3.44 lakh metric tonnes, district Bhiwani over 2.47 lakh metric tonnes, district Panipat over 2.40 lakh metric tonnes, district Ambala over 2.14 lakh metric tonnes, district Yamunanagar over 1.99 lakh metric tonnes, district Rohtak over 1.86 lakh metric tonnes, district Palwal over 1.53 lakh metric tonnes, district Jhajjar over 1.17 lakh metric tonnes, district Faridabad over 75,717 metric tonnes, district Mewat 64,332 metric tonnes, district Narnaul 37,825 metric tonnes, district Rewari 36,766 metric tonnes, district Panchkula 28,414 metric tonnes and district Gurgaon 46,961 metric tonnes. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
