Jalandhar, April 9, 2013: The Special Judge for CBI, Mumbai has convicted Vilas Prabhakar Narkar, then Superintendent (Preventive) Central Excise, Thane-I Commissionerate Dadar, Mumbai and sentenced him to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 10,000 in a bribery case.
CBI had registered case against Vilas Prabhakar Narkar and others U/s 120 IPC, Section 7 and 13(2) r/w 13(1) (d) of PC Act, 1988 on the allegation that Vilas Prabhakar Narkar had demanded a bribe of Rs.1.5 lakh from the complainant who was Proprietor Of private firm for setting the excise duty matter.
A charge sheet was filed on May 19, 2009 in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Mumbai against Vilas Prabhakar Narkar then Superintendent of Central Excise and other three officials.
The Trial Court found Vilas Prabhakar Narkar guilty and acquitted three other officials.
