Jalandhar, April 9, 2013: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered three cases related to poaching of Rhinos which took place during July and September, 2012 in the districts Karbi Anglong and Nagaon of Assam.
It was alleged that in all three cases, Rhinos were killed by using the fire arms and their body parts were taken away.
These cases were initially registered by Assam Police against unknown persons in districts of Karbi Anglong and Nagaon of Assam, for various offences of the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972 & the Arms Act,1959.CBI took up the investigation on the request of Assam Government and further notification from Government of India.
