New Delhi, April 24, 2015: Haryana has bagged six awards under various categories in a function organized in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi today on the occasion of ‘National Panchayati Raj Day’.
The Ministry of Panchayati Raj observes April 24 as the National Panchayati Raj Day every year and awards are conferred upon the Panchayats to appreciate and encourage them for their outstanding performances. Union Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Chaudhary Birender Singh and Minister of State for Panchayati Raj, Mr Nihal Chand gave away these awards. Haryana has been honoured by five Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puruskars and one Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puruskar.
Maya Devi, Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Doharka, Block and District Gurgaon, Mahender Singh, Sanpach of Gram Panchayat Dabodha, Block Farrukh Nagar, District Gurgaon, Parveen Kumar, President of Zila Parishad Kurukshetra, Bhagwanti, Chairperson of Panchayat Samiti, Nissing, District Karnal and Gurnam Singh, Sanpanch of Gram Panchayat Dubri, Block Nissing at Chirao, District Karnal have been honoured with Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puruskar. Also, Gurnam Singh, Sanpanch of Gram Panchayat Dubri, Block Nissing at Chirao, District Karnal has been honoured with Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puruskar. /(SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
