CANCEL death sentence of Prof Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar; demands Sikh Organisations

Ferozepur, April 9, 2013:  Various Sikh Organisations of Feozepur district namely Shromani Akali Dal (Amrisar), Vishav Bhai Mardana Kirtan Darbar Society, Eknoor Khalsa Fouj, Sant Samaj Bhagat Baba Milkha Singh, Avtar Singh Jhoke Hari Har, Baba Bohar Singh Tootan Wale, Baba Pali Ji Nanaksar, Kalghidhar Amrit Sanchar Jatha, Sikh Welfare Society and others, under the leadership of Bhai Jaspal Singh, Bhagwan Sing Dariyala, Jasbir Singh, Gurcharan Singh Bhullar, Himmat Singh Shakur, Bohar Singh Khalsa and Harjit Singh, organised a road march from Gurudwara Bazidpur to Gurudwara Saragarhi, on Monday, to register their protest, to cancel the death sentence awarded to Prof Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar, also his immediate release.

The Sikh Organisations said, the atrocities on Sikhs in minority are being committed and they will not tolerate further excesses on Sikh community. They added till such time the death sentence awarded to Prof. Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar is not taken back and released, the agitation will continue.

Davinder Pal Singh Bhullar is a convict on death row in India.  He was found guilty of killing 9 by standers in a 1993 car bombing intended to kill Maninderjeet Singh Bitta, on September 11, 1993 when a car bomb exploded outside the offices of the India Youth Congress on Raisina Road in New Delhi and sentenced to death by hanging by split decision.  He is a also suspected in two other deadly terrorist attacks in India. The responsibility for the attack was taken by Khalistan Liberation Force. Bitta had survived in the attack with shrapnel wounds to his chest. However, two of Bitta's body guards were killed.
