Ferozepur, April 20, 2015: The Ferozepur Division have been awarded with six prestigious awards at the ceremony at the Zonal Headquarters in Baroda House, New Delhi on April 17, in view of the outstanding performance in the year 2014-15. Giving this information to the media persons, Anuj Parkash, Divisional Rail Manager, Ferozepur Division said, the awards are in the field of Energy Conservation – non traction, Accident Relief Medical Van, Freight Operation, Rake Terminal Management, Security and Passenger Security Shield.
While Atul Kumar Singh, SR.DSTE was awarded by the Railway Minister himself.
The DRM further said that eleven employees of Ferozepur Division including 3 officers have been honoured with certificates and cash awards for their outstanding performance and commendable services during the year 2014-15. “This year about 608 employees of Ferozepur Division have been selected, to be rewarded for their meritorious services”, he added.
The DRM also highlighted the achievements during the year 2014-15 which include Opening of new line 25 Km upto Katra by the Prime Minister on July 7, 2014, introduction of six new trains in the division, evacuating of 63,000 persons after the flash floods in Kashmir valley on 4/5 September 2014, record loading of 1224 wagons on October 29, 2014, conversion of JRC stations to an energy efficient stations by replacing all the luminaries with LED luminaries, provision of Sola Power Plants at 9 stations – Talwandi, Dasuya, Chak Dayala, Manwal, Jiwanarian, Fazilka, Pathankot, Dalhousie Road, Jhok Tehal Singh with total 40.02 KWp, providing of Sola Panel System at 4 stations, providing of 4 NG GS Green Coaches at Pathankot, implementation of change of aspect from Close to Road Traffic to Open to Road Traffic, commissioning of RRI work at Ferozepur station, arrest of 3442 outsiders with realization of Rs.3.85 lakh on account of various offences, removal of 504 beggars, recovery of Rs.17.81 lakh from 4459 persons ticketless passengers.
In reply to the queries from the media persons, DRM said, the change in departure and arrival timings of Ferozepur-Chandigarh are under active consideration for the convenience of the passengers.
To another questions of unmanned railway crossings, he said, there are in total 1150 unmanned railway crossings in the division, out of which only 350 have been manned. However, they are working on others for railway over bridges or under bridges besides educating the people by organizing seminars in the area of unmanned railway crossings. He however, appreciated the idea of arranging a red light by linking it with the nearest railway station at the time of passing of the train to create consciousness among the persons crossing the open track.
