Ghuman/Batala, April 5, 2015: during the ongoing 88th Marathi Literary Fest, on one side serious discussions on Marathi Literature were witnessed, on the other various colourful stalls raised outside remained the centre of attraction for both the Marathis and Punjabis.
An exhibition of different books on Literature was the main attraction and people were seeing buying books. Punjabis were especially attracted towards the Marathi Stalls of Khadi and were enthusiastically buying khadi. Besides this to facilitate Punjabis, Maharashtra Government had also put up posters carrying vital information and literature pertaining to its state in Punjabi language.
It is for the first time in the history of the state of Punjab that two states with different cultural backgrounds were jelling so well. It has given the Literally Fest a look of an unmatched event at Ghuman by creating a mini Maharashtra.
The departments of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and the Information and Public Relations have also depicted the rich cultural heritage and historical background of the host state of Punjab. Literature containing important information about Punjab was being distributed free of cost. Balraj Singh officer representing the Tourism and Cultural Affairs department said that the visiting Maharashtrians have been made acquainted with the Punjabi culture and heritage so as to attract them again and again in the state.
