Punjab -Maharashtra to forever maintain spiritual and literary ties: Javedkar

The Union Minister for Environment Prakash Javedkar on Sunday addressing gathering at the88th Marathi Literary Fest being held in village Ghuman in Punjab.

Ghuman (Batala), April 5, 2015: The warmth of relations between Marathi and Punjabi that the Shiromani Bhagat Namdev fostered are strong even today and this is the prime reason Marathi language is celebrating itself at the Punjab’s land in village Ghuman today at the 8thMarathi Literary Fest. The Union Minister for Environment Prakash Javedkar today said this while addressing gathering at the 88th Marathi Literary Fest being held in village Ghuman.

Javed kar said that he was participating in this event not as a Union Minister but as literary aficionado. Paying humble tributes to the Shiromani Sant Bhagat Namdev Ji, who meditated on this land for years together and constituted holy hymns that have become guiding light for the people to follow. He added that the literary and spiritual relation, which Bhagat Namdev Jiset rolling between Marathi and Punjabi will last till eternity.

Addressing the Marathi Fest, Prakash Javedkar added that after journey of thousands of years, the human being developed languages and these languages gave birth to the literature. He said that such literary fests connect one end of country with another and give an opportunity to exchange languages, cultures and heritage. Appreciating the efforts of Sarhad Sanstha Pune in holding this rich literary fest at village Ghuman, he said that the event would prove to be a mile stone in development of Marathi language. He also presented his notions about Marathi literature.

The Union Minister Javedkar said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi too have extended is warm affection for this literary fest underway at village Ghuman. Expressing gratitude of Punjab government in conducting this event, he said that was thankful to the Chief Minister Punjab Prakash Singh Badal and the Punjab government on behalf of entire Maratha community for their hospitality. The Chief Parliamentary Secretary Desraj Singh Dhugga honored Javedkar by presenting him Shri Sahib and a shawl.

Later Javedkar met the Punjabi and Marathi people present in pandal. The president of Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahit Mahamandal Madhvi Vaidya, Dr Sadanand More, Sammelan’s Maratha organizer Bharat Desla, Padamshree Dr Ganesh Devi, Sanjay Nahar and Marathi literary figures were also present.
