New Delhi, March 31, 2015: Kaavya Arakoni and Vedika Modi’s film titled 'The Cleansing' was recently nominated for an award at the THIMUN Qatar Northwestern Film Festival held annually in Doha, Qatar. The THIMUN Qatar North-western University Film Festival attracts young film makers from around the world. The films serve as a platform for young people to create advocacy films on local or global issues. Kaavya and Vedika’s film covers the growing issue of the lack of sanitation in India.
“We are very honoured to be nominated for an award for this festival, and we are very glad that we have been given this opportunity! One of the greatest challenges in creating this film has been to collate footage from both Mumbai and Delhi and try and condense the large variety of issues India faces in terms of lack of sanitation- clean water, toilet availability as well as safety, safe and clean food- the list goes on. Through the film, we wish to bring attention to the state of India’s sanitation in the areas mentioned previously, in the hope that it will improve.”
This year's festival will be held from April 2-4, 2015.
