AISECT felicitated with “Excellence in Skill Development” Award by Indian Society of Training and Development

Bhopal, March 19, 2015: India’s leading skills and ICT-based education, training and services network, AISECT has been awarded for its “Excellence in Skill Development” as part of a two-day Skilling India-Make In India seminar held in Bhopal. Honorable Minister for Higher and Technical Education and Skill Development (Govt. of MP), Uma Shankar Gupta was the Chief Guest for the awards ceremony and presented the award to AISECT’s Director Siddharth Chaturvedi.
The seminar, which was organized by Bhopal Chapter of The Indian Society of Training and Development (ISTD) in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh Council for Vocational Education & Training, aimed to provide an opportunity and comprehensive framework to make the individuals, institutions and vocational training providers more effective. It was an endeavor to motivation the players in the segment to impart quality training in order to generate good skilled manpower. The award ceremony, post the seminar, was also graced by the presence of Shri S. J. Amalan (National Vice President of ISTD (New Delhi) & Chairman of National Skill Board) along with Tarun Pant (Head of MES (New Delhi) & Director of National Skill Board).
On winning the award, Siddharth Chaturvedi said, “I am glad that the Government of India is bringing the issue of skill development and vocational training to the forefront and AISECT’s efforts and contributions in this space over the last three decades are being recognized. This has given us further impetus to perform even better and ensure that we deliver our best to make the skill development mission a huge success for India. I firmly believe that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of “Skill, Scale and Speed” will make our country fast track the changes set in motion in the education and skill development sector over the next five years.”
AISECT has been excelling in imparting skills-based training to the semi-urban and rural population way before the introduction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project, Skill India. Since its inception in 1985, the organization has trained over 1.6 million people at the district, block and panchayat levels through a network of over 12,000 centres spread across the country. The organization is also partnered with the Central and State Governments for a host of skill development and capacity building projects targeted towards empowerment of people from all sections of the society. Meanwhile, to contribute to the training requirement of the large skill deficit that India stands on today, AISECT has partnered with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to train 1.3 million candidates in the next 10 years.
As a part of the existing AISECT-NSDC partnership programme, AISECT has formed 11 major academies which offer low cost, high quality teaching through university certified Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Certificate and Diploma courses in areas like IT & Management, Hardware & Networking, Teacher Training, Textile, Insurance, Banking & Finance, Organised Retail, Fire Safety & Security, Auto Skills and Agriculture. Since the last couple of years, AISECT has successfully organized AISECT-NSDC Rojgar Melas in states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Orissa, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh with an aim to transform the country’s skills landscape. The organization is also assisting the trained youth in placement through its rural job portal.
This award is not the first recognition that AISECT has received for its endeavors in the education and skill development domains. Over the years, the organisation has been felicitation through a host of international and national level awards including the Schwab Foundation’s Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award instituted by the World Economic Forum, the Ashoka Senior Fellowship, the Skoch Renaissance Award, the NASSCOM I.T. Innovation Award, the Manthan Award South Asia & Asia Pacific, the NASSCOM EMERGE 50 Leader Award, the Indian Innovation Award, the Asian Forum i4D Award, the TiE Lumis Partners Entrepreneurial Excellence Award, the National CSI Award, the World Education Summit Award and the World HRD Congress Award among others. AISECT is also listed in a World Bank-IIM (A) Joint Report as “the most sustainable and scalable form of IT penetration & popularization in India”.
