An important joint meeting of Bharti Kisan Union (Punjab and Haryana units) led by Baldev Singh Mianpur state president Punjab and Chaudhary Guniparkash State President Haryana being held at Chandigarh on Sunday.

Chandigarh, March 15, 2015: Bharti Kisan Union led by Bhupinder Singh Mann, Ex MP., National President and Chairman All India Kisan Coordination Committee held an important joint meeting of its Punjab and Haryana units led by Baldev Singh Mianpur state president Punjab and Chaudhary Guniparkash State President Haryana.
The meeting discussed about the Land Acquisition Bill which seeks to destroy the basic character of the Land Acquisition act 2013. At the face of the bill it is evident that its aim is to grab land from the farmers to help land grabbers.
The meeting also discussed about the promise made to farmers by the BJP Government in its 2014 manifesto to implement Swaminathan Commission Report as also some other promises.
The meeting also discussed other issues relating to farmers of both the states.
After deliberations on the issues Bhupinder Singh Mann said that BKU has always been against any move to ruin the Land Acquisition Act 2013. Modi Government has totally destroyed the basic spirit of the Land Acquisition Act, which is against the farmers. This bill is aimed to fulfill the nefarious designs of land grabbers. All the so called amendments including denying farmers right to justice, to free officials of committing any offence in the Land Acquisition Act, allowing land grabbers to keep the land unutilised for as long as they wish etc., are in favour of the vested interests. Modi Government seems to payback its election fund suppliers.
The meeting decided that, farmers already in the grip of suicide compulsions will not tolerate such fatal blow on the backbone of the nation.
On the issue of implementation of Swaminathan Commission Report which the Modi Government has promised in its election manifesto to implement along with other recommendations, seems that Modi Government is taking its foot back. The meeting after due deliberations decided to oppose any move not to give due justice to the agriculture sector. What was required was that wicked ‘essential commodities act’ responsible for making agriculture a loosing venture, responsible for innumerable suicides of farmers, should have been scraped, but in Modi Government its teeth have been sharpened by including potato and onions under its garb.
Nature has played havoc in Haryana and Punjab where in Wheat, Sarson, Chana and vegetables crops have been hard hit by hailstorm, heavy rains and windstorms. Baldev Singh Mianpur President Punjab BKU and Guniparkash President Haryana BKU emphasised that Government of Punjab and Haryana should compensate the loss of the farmers by giving Rs. 25000 per acre. The meeting also decided to lodge its protest to the Governor of Punjab and Haryana soon through a delegation of farmers.
It was also decided that a high level meeting of All India Kisan Coordination Committee (KCC) will be held where all the 17 farmers organisations of various states will participate in Delhi on April 19-20, 2015, on the issues concerning Kisans. And there after a delegation of KCC would give memorandum to President of India and other concerned dignitaries.
