New Delhi, January 23, 2015: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a private person who was declared Proclaimed Offender by the Trial Court in a case relating to alleged fraud and cheating of Rs.7.13 crores(approx.).
CBI had registered a case on 18.04.2007 on the allegations that the accused persons obtained fraudulent duty rebate claims from Central Excise, Surat(Gujarat) during 2004 to 2005 on the basis of forged export documents. After investigation, a chargesheet was filed on 30.12.2009 in the Court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, 19th Court, Mumbai u/s 120-B r/w 420, 467, 468 & 471 IPC against the accused persons.
The said person was absconding and he was declared Proclaimed Offender on 15.12.2014 by the trial Court. After continuous efforts, CBI traced the accused and arrested him.
The arrested accused was produced today before the ACMM, 19th Court, Mumbai and was remanded to Judicial Custody./(SK Vyas/Jalandhar)
