Delhi, April 22, 2014: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a relative of a Director (IAAS - 2005 Batch Officer) working in the Office of Director General of Audit, Central Expenditure, AGCR Building, New Delhi for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.5 lakhs from the complainant.
A case was registered by CBI U/s 7 and 12 of PC Act based on a complaint. It was alleged that a Director (IAAS - 2005 Batch Officer), AMG-II working in the Office of Director General of Audit, Central Expenditure, AGCR Building, New Delhi demanded an amount of Rs.35 lakhs as bribe for regularising the irregularities of a Nursing College being run by the complainant at Chennai and directed the complainant to pay the first instalment of Rs.5 lakh monday to his brother-in-law at a designated place in Chennai.
CBI laid a trap and the brother-in-law of accused was caught red handed while accepting the amount of Rs.5 lakhs. Searches are being conducted at the offices and residences of the accused at Delhi, Noida, Kanchipuram and other places near Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu). During searches conducted so far, cash of Rs.95 lakhs (approx.) and several incriminating documents were recovered.
Further investigation is continuing.
