Dharamshala: “Under the geographical conditions of the state, roads are the main means of transportation. Providing better and easier communication facilities to every region is the highest priority of the government and Rs 3921 crore is being spent in the current financial year for the construction and maintenance of roads in the state,” said Health and Family Welfare Minister, Vipin Singh Parmar.
Vipin Singh Parmar was addressing the people in Government Senior Secondary School Gadh on Wednesday, after Bhoomipujan of Kedara-Dhati via Phulwadia Basti Sampark Road and inauguration of Basti-Patwag via Chaudhary Basti road. He informed that out of 3226 panchayats in the state, 3128 panchayats have been connected with motor roads and construction work of connecting roads is on to connect another 59 panchayats and efforts are being made to solve road construction bottlenecks in remaining 39 panchayats.
He said that on the convenience and demand of people in the state, apart from roads connection to panchayats, the work of connecting villages to villages by road in also in progress. All the villages in the ministers own constituency, Sulah, have also been connected by road facility. He said that the government has started the “Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana” to connect the villages of the state with motor able roads and has made a provision of Rs 600 crore in this scheme. He said that the “Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana” has helped in broadening the road network of the state. Under this scheme, 500 km long new roads and 1000 km existing roads are being improved and expanded.
