New Delhi/Jalandhar, February 27, 2014: The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Chennai today convicted D Rajasekar (an IFS Officer of 1998 Batch), then Regional Officer of Central Board of Film Certification, Chennai in a bribery case and sentenced him to undergo one year Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.10,000.
A case was registered on July 27, 2010 against D Rajasekar, an Indian Forest Service Officer (IFS), Regional Officer, Central Board of Film Certification, Chennai based on the complaint that he had demanded a bribe of Rs.10,000 from the complainant for viewing a film expeditiously and for issuing certification for the said film. After registration of the case, a trap was laid by CBI, and during the trap proceedings D. Rajasekar was caught red handed while he demanded and accepted bribe of Rs.10,000 from the complainant. A charge sheet was filed against the accused U/s 7 & 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
