New Delhi/Jalandhar, February 25, 2014: The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Visakhapatnam has convicted Kota Rama Krishna Rao, then Senior Section Engineer; Mandali Krishna Rao, then Technical-II, both of Carriage & Wagon Department, Central Sick Line Depot & Sri Ravada Venkata Ramana, then Junior Engineer-I, Carriage Reception Yard, all of East Coast Railway, Marripalem Yard, Visakhapatnam and sentenced them to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.12,500 each.
The brief allegation was that during the years 2000-2003, K.R.K.Rama Krishna Rao while working as Senior Section Engineer, Carriage & Wagon Department, Central Sick Line Deport, East Coast Railway, Visakhapatnam had abused his official position as a public servant and dishonestly/fraudulently disposed off 12 Wagons which were under his custody and were grounded at Central Sick Line (CSL) & in violation of the laid down procedure & norms.
It was further alleged that during the years 2000-2003, the accused public servants entered into a criminal conspiracy among themselves and misappropriated the different items like HSD Oil, R.C. Metal, M.S. Sheets, M.S. Plantes, Wheels & Bearing Springs etc. which were in their custody, in violation of the laid down procedure & norms, by forging the documents and using them as genuine. Thus, the accused public servants misappropriated the railway property and caused wrongful loss to the East Coast Railway.
After conducting regular trial, the Court pronounced judgements convicting the Accused Kota Rama Krishna Rao; Ravada Venkata Ramana and Mandali Krishna Rao.
