New Delhi/Jalandhar, February 13, 2014: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an absconding accused in an on-going investigation for allegedly cheating the investors.
CBI had registered the case on October 8, 2013 on the request of Tripura Government and took up the investigation which was earlier conducted at Dhamanagar Police Station vide Case No. 52/2011 dated May 2, 2011.
It was alleged in the FIR that the accused, a Director of a private firm, collected more than Rs.11 crores from the gullible investors of Tripura, alluring them of high rate of return against their deposits raised by issuance of share certificates; booking of flats/plots etc. He disappeared from Tripura and also from his all known locations without refunding any money to the investors.
After sustained efforts, CBI located him at Kolkata where he was hiding.
A local Court in Kolkata has granted six days of transit remand for the accused.
