New Delhi/Jalandhar, December 13, 2013: The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Ranchi has sentenced Bishwanah Sahu, then General Manager (Safety), Central Coalfields Ltd., Ranchi to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with total fine of Rs.35,000 and Sanjeev Chatterjee, Representative of Kolkata based private firm to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with total fine of Rs.30,000 in a cheating case.
CBI had registered a case on May 5, 1994 against Shri Bishwanath Sahu, Ex GM(Safety), CCL, Ranchi and Sanjeev Chatterjee, Representative of two Kolkata based private firms on the allegations pertaining to procurement of first aid boxes at exorbitant rate and thereby cheating the CCL authorities to the tune of about Rs.14,16,000. During investigation, 19 witnesses were examined.
After investigation, a chargesheet was filed on 30.12.1994 U/s 120B, 420, 467, 468 & 471 of IPC and Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988.
The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted them.
