CBI arrests deputy commissioner of customs and two private persons in bribery case

New Delhi/Jalandhar, December 1, 2013: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Deputy Commissioner of  Customs, ICD Dadri, Gautam Budha Nagar(U.P) and two private persons i.e an Owner & Promoter of New Delhi based private firms in an alleged bribery case.
A case was registered by CBI case U/s 120-B of IPC and Sec. 7, 8, 9, 12 of P.C. Act, 1988 against Deputy Commissioner (Customs), ICD Dadri, Gautam Budha Nagar(U.P); an Owner of private firm having its office at  Bhikaji Cama Place, New Delhi; a Promoter of another private firm based at East of Kailash, New Delhi and other unknown persons on the basis of an information.
It is alleged that for release of the seized shipment consisting of tyres belonging to East of Kailash, New Delhi based private firm from the Customs Department at ICD, Dadri, the Promoter of said firm contacted the middleman(owner of the other private firm). The middleman approached the Dy. Commissioner in order to get the seized consignment of said firm cleared favourably, who in turn allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs. 5 lacs from the Promoter through said middleman for showing favour.  
The Promoter of said private firm paid the alleged bribe of Rs.5 lacs to the Deputy Commissioner at his residence at Noida(U.P) and the bribe money was recovered from the residence of the latter .   
During the follow up action, searches were conducted  at six locations in Delhi & NCR and various incriminating documents were recovered from the possession of the accused persons. The incriminating documents are being scrutinized for further investigation. Apart from the bribe money of Rs.5 lacs; cash of Rs.14.75 lacs(approx); a gold brick of one kg.; gold; silver & diamond jewellery and documents related to investments worth more than a crore of rupees(approx) were also recovered at the residential premises of the Deputy Commissioner.
Further investigation is continuing.
