New Delhi/Jalandhar, August 2, 2013: The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bangalore has convicted M. Ravindranath, the then Field Officer, State Bank of India, Jalahalli Branch, Bangalore to undergo one year rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs.30,000 for causing loss of Rs. 2.30 lakh to bank.
The CBI, had filed a charge sheet against M.Ravindranath U/s.420, 468, 471, 477-A IPC and 13(2) r/w 13(1) (d) of the PC Act-1988. The allegation as per the charge sheet were that M. Ravindranath, the then Field Officer had made false entries, prepared bogus credit / debit vouchers, passed the same and thereby caused a wrongful loss of Rs. 2.30 lakh to State Bank of India & wrongful gain to himself.
The charge sheet in this case was filed on 10.07.1992. and M. Ravindranath was absconding since August, 1998. He was apprehended in December, 2012 after 14-years of search which enabled the court to continue with the trial and convicting the accused person.
