New Delhi/Jalandhar, June 29, 2013: During last six days helicopter took more than 60 sorties and evacuated 232 people from Gangotri valley to safer places. Besides these, four officials were also evacuated. After evacuating them from Harsil, Batwari and Minari, these people were taken to Dharasu and Uttarkashi.
Helicopter carried 30 quintal of relief material, including food items and other necessary items. It also carried 100 kilogram of food items to Guptkashi. For carrying the relief material, the seats in the helicopter were removed.
These relief and rescue activities were carried under supervision of Senior Pilot Dharmendra Nehra and his colleague Wing Commander Mr Viddi.
Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda had left the Haryana Government helicopter in Dehradun on June 22 after a meeting with Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Vijay Bahuguna there.
