JUDGMENT: 10 years RI with fine of Rs. 11 lakh to accused for possession and circulation of fake Indian currency notes

Jalandhar, January 15, 2013: The Additional Session Judge, Delhi has convicted accused Imran Abdulla Syed and sentenced him to undergo ten years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 11 lakh in a case for possession and circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes.

This case was registered in CBI on August 30, 2010 consequent to the seizure of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICNs) of the face value of Rs.11.21 lakhs from accused Imran Abdulla Syed who arrived at IGI Airport, New Delhi from Karachi (Pakistan). The seized FICNs were allegedly claimed to be received from a Pakistani National.

After completion of the investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet on December 21, 2010 under section 120-B r/w Sec. 489-B and 489-C of IPC against accused Imran Abdulla Syed and other accused, a Pakistani National, in the Designated Court at Delhi.

The Trial Court found the accused Abdulla Syed guilty and convicted him.

The other accused is absconding.
