Jalandhar, June 13, 2013: The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Pune (Maharashtra) has convicted Manish Nadkar, the then Income Tax Officer, Ward D-3, Pune for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh and sentenced him to undergo four years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.20,000.
A charge sheet was filed by CBI, before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, at Pune on 29.06.2005 u/s 7 and Sec.13 (2) r/w Sec.13(1)(d) of P.C Act, 1988, alleging that the accused while working as Income Tax Officer in D-3 Ward at Pune demanded bribe of Rs. 1 lakh from the complainant for showing favour in the Assessment proceedings of I.T Return for AY 2002-2003.The CBI sleuths caught red handed the ITO while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 1 lakh from the complainant.
The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
