Jalandhar, August 25, 2015: A two day Vajra Technology Festival was organized at Jalandhar Cantt on 24 and 25 Aug 2015, which was inaugurated by Lt Gen JS Cheema, General Officer Commanding, Vajra Corps on 24 August 15. An Ideas and Innovations Competition and Display of Latest Technology and Equipments by Civil Technology Demonstrators were the highlights of the two day event. The Ideas and Innovations were conceived and developed by various units to not only upgrade critical equipment and weapon systems and enhance the operational logistic capability of the Vajra Corps but also to indigenize the systems / sub systems of equipments. The competition was held in eight categories viz operational capability equipment availability, IT applications/softwares, projects as part of courses, simulators, expedients and indigenization. Enthusiastic participation was witnessed and a lot of innovations were put up by Jawans, JCOs and Officers of Vajra Corps.
A compendium of all Ideas and Innovations titled Srijan 2015 was released by Lt Gen JS Cheema, General Officer Commanding. While releasing the compendium, the General Officer stressed upon the need for encouraging all ranks to be creative. An exhibition of commercial equipment that could be of use in various walks of life of Army was displayed by over twenty five firms. The equipment displayed was in the fields of security, surveillance, operational efficacy enhancer and labour saving devices.
Vajra Technology Festival was attended by 5000 Army personnel of Jalandhar Cantt and adjoining places and it was well appreciated by all. The best adjudged Ideas of various categories were awarded a trophy and certificate by Maj Gen Deepak Dhanda, Chief of Staff, Vajra Corps. He appreciated the efforts put in by EME under the leadership of Brig Ajay Sharma and assured to continue the Tech Fest every year to generate awareness of innovations in all ranks of Vajra Corps.
