Lt Gen Jagbir Singh Cheema Takes Over Command Of Vajra Corps

Lt Gen Jagbir Singh Cheema who has taken over command of Vajra Corps.

Jalandhar, August 20, 2015: Lt Gen Jagbir Singh Cheema has taken over as the General Officer Commanding of the prestigious Vajra Corps on 20 Aug 2015. He has relieved Lt Gen  NPS Hira.  Lt Gen Jagbir Singh Cheema was commissioned into the SIKH Regiment in Jun 1979.  An alumnus of National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy, the General Officer has a distinguished career spanning more than 36 years during which he has tenanted critical command, staff and instructional experience across the entire spectrum of conflict to include conventional and sub conventional operations both in the Western and Northern Fronts.
The General Officer successfully commanded  an Infantry Battalion on the Lion of Control in J&K in Operation RAKSHAK and on the International Border in Punjab during Operation VIJAY.   He commanded an Infantry Brigade responsible to conduct intense counter infiltration operations on the Line of Control in High Altitude Area in J&K.  The General Officer Commanded a Mountain Division with varied operational roles.
The General Officer has done all prestigious tri-services professional courses including Defence Services Staff College, Higher Defence Management Course and the National Defence College course.
Lt Gen Jasbir Singh Cheema served as a Directing Staff in the Army War College, Mhow.   The General Officer was the Chief of Staff of an operationally committed command prior to assuming command of Vajra Corps.
